The English and Scottish Popular Ballads

Originally published 1882–98, this monumental ten-part work by Harvard scholar Francis James Child (1825–96) contains the text and variants of 305 ballads, with detailed commentary and critical apparatus. Volume 3, Part 2 (1889) contains ballads 156-188, including 'Flodden Field' and 'The Lads of Wamphray'.
